Our Story
Inspired by studies showing the benefits of physical fitness in decreasing cancer recurrence, the Survivor Rowing Club was founded in 2024 in partnership with Ochsner Health to enhance physical and psychosocial wellness for breast cancer survivors in Greater New Orleans.
SRC is a different kind of support group. We’re a community of breast cancer survivors who row together, encouraging each other on and off the water in a low-impact sport that’s accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.
Through a professionally designed Learn to Row curriculum developed specifically for breast cancer survivors, we support and train our new members with certified coaches. Together, we build confidence, camaraderie and overall health through sweat and effort.
We are proud members of the Survivor Rowing Network, which supports similar clubs worldwide, and have also partnered with Xavier University Rowing, Tulane Rowing, and ErgoFit.
This fall, for the second consecutive year, SRC will compete in the Survivor Exhibition at the world’s largest rowing regatta, the Head Of The Charles, in Boston.
